Experience and Credentials
Kai Nguyen is a compassionate, LGBTQ+ affirming therapist who believes everyone deserves to be seen and supported exactly as they are. They specialize in working with folks who often feel “out of place” — whether you’re neurodivergent (Autistic, ADHD, etc.), adjusting to college life, exploring your gender or sexuality, or feeling the pressure of cultural expectations.
As a queer and nonbinary therapist, Kai creates a space where you don’t have to explain or defend your identity — just show up as yourself. Clients often say Kai is deeply patient, a great listener, and someone who never makes them feel “different” in a bad way.
Therapy with Kai is paced around your needs. Building trust is their first priority, especially if you’ve experienced trauma or difficult life events. They support you in processing the past with gentleness and clarity, always centering your voice and choices.
If you’re neurodivergent, Kai offers affirming care that’s both supportive and practical — whether that means finding strategies for daily routines, navigating sensory overload, or embracing how your brain works. Kai also works well with students facing anxiety, identity confusion, or loneliness in school and social settings.
Their style is flexible and person-centered — there’s no one-size-fits-all. Depending on what works for you, Kai may draw from DBT, coping skills, or creative tools. What never changes is their warmth and belief in your potential.
As a therapist-in-training under supervision, Kai brings fresh insight and grounded guidance to each session. With their support, you can explore who you are, heal from what’s been holding you back, and step into a life that feels more aligned and empowering.
What Sets Kai Apart
I work with folks who’ve often felt like they didn’t quite fit the mold — whether because of how they think, how they identify, or what they’ve been through.
I offer therapy that meets you where you are. That means no pressure to “fix” yourself — just space to unpack things at your own pace, with support that’s affirming, flexible, and real.
Your experience matters. I bring a trauma-informed, neurodivergent-affirming, and identity-conscious approach to our work together. If you’ve ever felt misunderstood or overlooked, my goal is to help you feel seen, respected, and empowered.
We go at your speed. Whether you’re sorting through stress, healing from hard experiences, or trying to better understand yourself, I’ll walk alongside you with patience, curiosity, and care.
Note:
This therapist is currently practicing under the supervision of Vanessa Minor, MS, LPC, CSAC, Clinical Director of Collective Counseling & Consultation. In Wisconsin, therapists-in-training are required by state law to practice under supervision as part of their path toward full licensure. This ensures high-quality care, accountability, and continued professional growth.
