Experience and Credentials
Vanessa Minor is the founder and clinical director of Collective Counseling & Consultation — and a therapist who deeply understands what it means to hold a lot at once. Whether you’re navigating family responsibilities, work stress, or the weight of past experiences, Vanessa meets you with warmth, respect, and a deep belief in your ability to heal.
With over 15 years of experience, Vanessa specializes in trauma recovery, anxiety and stress management, women’s issues, and identity exploration. She is especially passionate about providing culturally responsive care to BIPOC and LGBTQ+ adults and has built this practice around that mission. Her approach is grounded, affirming, and collaborative — she’ll partner with you to help you reconnect with your strengths, process what’s holding you back, and move toward the life you want.
Vanessa holds a Master’s in Community Psychology and has advanced training in EMDR and somatic-based interventions, including Level I Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. She continues to study and practice culturally informed approaches that honor the whole person — mind, body, and identity.
Vanessa often says, “Therapy is a partnership” — and with her, you’ll never feel like you have to go through things alone.
What Sets Vanessa Apart
I started Collective Counseling because I wanted to create a space where people — especially those who’ve felt overlooked or misunderstood — could feel seen, supported, and cared for in a real way.
Leading with heart. As the founder and clinical director, I’m deeply involved in shaping the vision of this practice — but I’m also still doing the work I love: showing up for my clients. With over 15 years of experience, I help people navigate stress, trauma, identity questions, and the everyday weight that can come with trying to hold everything together.
Therapy should feel like a partnership. I believe in honesty, warmth, and being fully present. Whether we’re exploring past wounds, untangling anxiety, or figuring out how to set boundaries that stick, I meet you where you are — no judgment, just support and curiosity.
Culturally responsive, always. As a Black woman and seasoned therapist, I bring a strong lens of cultural awareness to everything I do. I honor how race, gender, family roles, and systemic pressures impact your well-being. You never have to explain “the basics” here — we can get right to what matters most to you.
